DESCRIPTION:

  • Departure time (09:00 - 09:10) from your hotel in Ortahisar Bozdağ 15 minutes by car.

  • In this nature hike, we start ascending from Ortahisar to Bozdağ (1200 m altitude) after seeing from above the red and pink valleys, Çavuşin village and Zelve open-air museum, we will descend into Dervent Valley (Valley of Imagination) and will drive to Saruhan Caravanserai (13th century 1249). The hike ends with a guided tour of this monument.

  • THE SARUHAN CARAVANSERA; The Saruhan Caravanserai is located in the vicinity of Avanos. This caravanserai, built-in 1249 during the period of İzzettin Keykavus II, bears traces of Seljuk architecture. The Saruhan Caravanserai, which became an important stop on the silk trade routes, was classically designed and built with light brown, yellow and pink coloured cut stones. This building, which extends over an area of approximately 2000 square meters, s on one level and has a magnificent entrance door. Five gates open onto the courtyard of the caravanserai. They have a mixed type of architecture, three of the doors including the main door have decorations that can be considered works of art.
