FROM UÇHİSAR TO MONKS VALLEY
UNMISSABLE EXCURSION
Your day will start with being picked up at your accommodation by vehicle We will then make our way to the start of our hike near Uçhısar. First, we will walk through Whıte Valley where I will explain more about the history and geology of the area and where we can try local fruıts and plants when in season. As we make our way down the valley we will slowly enter Love Valley. There are many fairy chimneys with unique shapes to explore in this aptly named valley. After a refreshment stop, I will show you a cave that is furnıshed with beds that can still be used today. This will give a much better idea of how people lived in these caves. We now move to Red and Rose Valleys to explore many cave houses and pigeon houses. A particular highlight is visiting two churches in these valleys that are very well preserved. Lunch will be provided by me and we will have a longer break to properly enjoy the food and the spectacular views from the cafe. We will be able to marvel at the beautiful and vibrant colours of the landscape as we make our way further through the Red and Rose Valleys. The hike will finish in the oldest vıllage in the heart of Cappadocia, Çavuşin, with its imposing castle ruin and 5th-century church with frescoes. You will then be driven back to your accommodation after a full day of exploring and hiking in the beautıful valleys of Cappadocıa providing you with a much deeper understanding of and appreciatıon of this part of Turkey.

There is the option of extendıng the hıke a further 3 km/1.8 miles to Paşabağ at no extra cost if time and the guests' condition allow.

* This 16 km long hiking trail features the geological features of Cappadocia just like the other hiking trails offered. 6-7 hours of walking.
* We will pass through the Zemi Valley (Green Valley), the Görkündere Valley and the Göreme Pigeon Valley and finally the rocky peak of Uçhisar (1350 meters above sea level)

ÇAT VALLEY & UNDERGROUND CİTY
A PARTICULAR EXPERIENCE
The valley of Çat with its many dovecotes
The largest underground city with its 8 floors (56 m deep)
* Departure time (09:00 - 09:10) from your hotel to Çat Valley.
* After a 5-hour hike in the Valley, 34 km by vehicle to Derinkuyu to visit the famous underground city.
Our vehicle will drop us off in the old village of Çat. We will hike for 5 hours in two U-shaped valleys bordered by cliffs with walls covered with dovecotes on several floors. Some dovecotes are coloured from the outside to attract pigeons whose droppings have been used as fertilizer since the Byzantine period. We will picnic in a cave in the valley. Then Departure by vehicle for the underground city of Derinkuyu.
We will visit this city which dates from the 8th and 7th centuries BC and which was discovered by chance in 1963. Return to your hotel.

the Green Valley
UNDERGROUND CİTY OF DERİNKUYU
*Caves might have been built initially in the soft volcanic rock of the
Cappadocia region by the Phrygians in the 8th–7th centuries BC, according
to the Turkish Department of Culture.
*The underground city at Derinkuyu could be closed from the inside with
large rolling stone doors. Each floor could be closed off separately.
*The city could accommodate up to 20,000 people and had amenities found
in other underground complexes across Cappadocia, such as wine and
oil presses, stables, cellars, storage rooms, refectories, and chapels.
Unique to the Derinkuyu complex and located on the second floor is a
spacious room with a barrel-vaulted ceiling. It has been reported that this
room was used as a religious school and the rooms to the left were studies
*The large 55-metre (180 ft) ventilation shaft appears to have been used
as a well. The shaft provided water to both the villagers above and, if the
outside world was inaccessible, to those in hiding.
*in 1963, the tunnels were rediscovered after a resident found
a mysterious room behind a wall in his home while renovating. Further
digging revealed access to the tunnel network.
* In 1969, the site was opened to visitors, with about half of the
underground city currently accessible.
CANYON IHLARA
Ihlara village has, one of the more beautiful canyons of Cappadocia with
its Melendiz River which halves the canyon. A place for cave house houses
of the Byzantine period, the cave church, cave-dwelling, monastery of
Selime.6-7 hours of hiking
We will visit the Bezirhane (linseed oil pool of wood-stated), cave houses
and frescoed churches belonging to the Byzantines who lived in this valley,
, which began cave life at the end of the 6th century.

''THE UNTRACITABLE WALK OF CAPPADOCIA''

15 minutes by car
In this nature hike, we start ascending from Ortahisar to
Bozdağ (1200 m altitude) after seeing from above the red and pink
valleys, Çavuşin village and Zelve open-air museum, we will
descend into Dervent Valley (Valley of Imagination) and will drive to
Saruhan Caravanserai (13th century 1249). The hike ends with a
guided tour of this monument.
THE SARUHAN CARAVANSERA; The Saruhan Caravanserai is
located in the vicinity of Avanos. This caravanserai, built-in 1249
during the period of İzzettin Keykavus II, bears traces of Seljuk
architecture. The Saruhan Caravanserai, which became an important
stop on the silk trade routes, was classically designed and built
with light brown, yellow and pink coloured cut stones. This building,
which extends over an area of approximately 2000 square meters,
s on one level and has a magnificent entrance door. Five gates open
onto the courtyard of the caravanserai. They have a mixed type of
architecture, three of the doors including the main door have
decorations that can be considered works of art.
